On-Demand Construction Project Management
On Demand Construction Project Management (also known as web-based construction project management) is the use of
web-based technology, hosted by an Application
Service Provider (ASP), to manage project information during the planning, design, and construction of capital projects.
Benefits for the owner include
- Increased efficiency from streamlined construction management processes.
- Time intensive and manual processes are automated and standardized through a central location that is accessible via the web.
- This improved process significantly improves project delivery time through faster, automated communications, decreasing the likelihood of delays and budget overruns.
- Additionally, risk is mitigated as team collaboration and communication are improved (e-mail notifications alert everyone in the project team to possible delays), and all major stakeholders have visibility into the project's critical paths to quickly pinpoint and respond to issues.
Members of a construction project can access information and documentation through
their web browser - no special and/or costly software is required. This capability in turn makes the communication and collaboration process more efficient, and more transparent to the construction owner/developer.
In an ASP configuration, information generated by project team members is automatically saved to the project server for easy web access, assigned by a project administrator (usually designated by the owner/developer) to other project team members based on their role (architect, construction manager, engineer). |
