e-Builder to be Used During Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia's Five-year expansion

Ft. Lauderdale, FL – July, 2005 – The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia recently launched an extensive five-year expansion project that will nearly double the size of the hospital’s main campus and e-Builder is on the team to help raise the bar.

e-Builder was chosen by L.F. Driscoll Co., Philadelphia’s largest construction management company, to collaborate on the Children’s Hospital project and add the dimension of a web-based project management system to the team. “We chose e-Builder’s system as a means to speed up the information systems that are inherent in a construction project of this size and caliber,” said Jim Carpenter, L.F. Driscoll’s senior project manager assigned to the Children’s Hospital.

“e-Builder’s system helped us completely streamline the communications between architects, engineers, contractors and the owner.” Prior to using e-Builder, L.F. Driscoll used the traditional methods of communication including a paper trail of faxes, mail and strings of email. Project records were stored in a multitude of endless binders, lining the shelves and taking up valuable space at L.F. Driscoll’s headquarters, making it cumbersome to look up details.

Now L.F. Driscoll is using e-Builder’s web-based system with ‘anywhere, anytime’ accessibility to build the Children’s Hospital project and is reaping the benefits of one centralized source of communication.L.F. Driscoll implemented the system in November 2004 and already almost 45 users including engineers, architects, project managers, consultants and contractors are using the system with more licenses being added each week.

“We implemented the system in two-week increments starting with RFI’s,” said Carpenter. L.F. Driscoll has since added all documentation, quality control notices, scopes of work, sketches, specifications, meeting minutes, reports as well as mechanical, electrical and plumbing coordination drawings.“The best part about e-Builder was the implementation process and on-going support,” noted Carpenter. “e-Builder took the time to meet with us for a general orientation and then held separate training sessions for each group of users.”
