Memorial Hermann is one of the largest healthcare systems in Houston with 11 hospitals, numerous specialty and outpatient centers, and 19,000 employees serving over 1 million patients each year. Memorial Hermann is in the midst of executing a $1 billion capital program to accommodate Houston’s growing needs.
Dubbed the “Century Program” to commemorate the system’s centennial, this phase is nearing its completion. However, Memorial Hermann has another capital program totaling $500 million over 3 years that includes a major build out of a city tower, and large capital expansions at their Katy and Woodlands campuses. The MH facilities teams manage these programs in conjunction with outsourced program managers and construction management firms. Projects consist of everything from $100k minor remodels to $300 MM ground up hospital construction. The size and complexity of this program presented the facility services team with several issues.
